The Baby Arrives

OK, so I cannot believe how busy mom and dad have been since this little creature came into our lives.  But things have settled a little and we found time today to update this blog.

We are going to add everything to this one post, starting at the beginning.

Mommy and Daddy went to Daddy's work party on THursday, December 8th.  Everything was going well until Mommy began to feel light headed and sick to her stomach.  So, they ended up leaving pretty suddenly to go home.  Mom thought she was having contractions beginning around 10:30 pm and began to keep track of them.  By morning there were some other things going on, so she called the doctor, who told them to head to the hospital to get checked out.  Daddy had to come home from work to take her.  They were there for about 3 hours and then sent home around 9 am.  I guess baby wanted to wait for Grandma and Aunt Becca to get here.

So, Grandma and Aunt Becca arrived around 1 pm on Friday.  I got to go to the airport to get them and got so excited when I saw Aunt Becca that Mommy thought the car was going to tip over from me wagging my tail!!  We showed Grandma and Aunt Becca some of our favorite places and went home fairly early.  Saturday we did some more sight-seeing - Farmer's Marker, Laguna Beach, etc but we did not do much - mommy was not comfortable.  EVeryone went to bed fairly early, but I stayed in the den with Mommy - she was acting very weird.  She told me she was having contractions again- but it sure seemed different than Thursday night.  THis went on until about 4 am, when she woke people and told them to go ahead and begin getting dressed / showered.  She called the doctor and was told she needed to wait until the contractions were 5 minutes apart and 45 seconds long for an hour before going to the hospital.  So we setted back down and things got worse for Mommy.  Finally at about 3 pm (after doing this for 17 hours!!) she called the doctor and told her that she was headed to the hospital (this time she did not ask).
So everyone headed to the hospital.  Mommy was dilated 3 cm when she arrived.  By 7 pm they had the epidural in and things were looking up for Mommy.  Around 9 pm they decided to send Grandma and Aunt Becca home to let me out and get some rest because the nurse said it would be at least another 8 hours before stuff really began to happen.
And they were right - around 4 am things were moving for mommy.  Around 615 am Mommy began pushing.  THe night nurse (Lori) said she did not think she would be around to meet the baby since she got off at 7 am.  But Mommy was a good pusher (efficient they kept saying. . .).  And sure enough the baby
came at 730 am, Monday, December 12th.  Mommy and Daddy named her Janey Timmons and decided to keep thinking about the middle name (THey later decided on Nicole).  She was 7 lbs 6oz - a nice size considering all the hubbub the doctors gave about her size prior to arrival. Here are some pics from the hospital.

They left the hospital on WEdnesday.  Unfortunately it was a rush because Aunt Becca had to get to the airport by 1230 and Mommy and Daddy did not leave the hospital until about 11 am.  But they made it home.  Mommy was very sad that Aunt Becca had to leave and was very emotional.  Daddy said Aunt Becca was sad to go - he told me she cried all the way to the airport!

Janey loves her activity mat.  She and mommy spend time on it every morning.  One morning I even babysat Janey on it:

Janey's first Christmas:
Boxes and boxes kept coming for Janey.  But my favorite gift she received was a rocking horse Grandma painted for her:

Grandma had to leave after 2 weeks.  Mommy could not have done it without her (and of course, Daddy's help, too).  I had to share my Grandma time with Janey, but it was great to catch up with Grandma.  Here is a pic of Grandma and Janey:

Janey had her 2 week appointment on 12/27 and the reports were great.  She is in the 90th percentile for height and 75th percentile for weight.  I cannot believe those doctors had Mommy worried about Janey's size back in November!!  THe doctor even said Mommy can stop waking her up at night to feed since Janey is doing so well.  Janey still wakes twice during the night to feed, but that is better than three times!!

THe night of the 27th everyone got to go out for drinks to celebrate our friend Gary's 60th birthday.  I was jealous - I have not had a beer or bourbon in way too long!!

Is that a dimple on her left cheek?

There is one other cute thing I want to share:
Daddy loves Janey's response to loud noises.  She throws her arms up in the air as though she is declaring a touchdown.
