Hello all. Not much has been happening. Janey's schedule has become more consistent, which means I get more attention. Janey shows more personality each day. She is getting better at using her hands and continues to love blowing bubbles with her spit. This week she discovered how to make "raspberries" with her mouth. Boy does she make a mess- she gets spit all over her face and head.
And we found out she fits right in with the family- she snores!! Here is a video of her snoring on a walk.
But the snoring did not bother me - I still managed to find the biggest downed branch to try and carry home:
Mama Bear and Papa Bear had to get Janey a new bathtub because she outgrew the last one. Janey has a lot more room in this one and enjoys kicking her feet around. Here is a video of Janey in her new bath.
Mama Bear continues to make friends. I especially like her friend Terri-who happens to be a high school math teacher. Terri is married to Matt, who works with Papa Bear. Terri and Matt have a daughter, Madeline, who will be 2 in May and are expecting another girl in July. But the best things about them are their dog, Bixby, and their pool. One Friday all four of us were invited over for a swim and drinks. Papa Bear was excited to introduce me to a new friend. I liked her right away- she reminded me of my friend Bella (a golden from Virginia). Bixby and I wrestled a lot and then even fetched balls from the pool. Janey enjoyed watching Madeline while Mama Bear and Papa Bear enjoyed some drinks and adult conversation.
This weekend I got away from the family for some dog time. Mama Bear and Papa Bear dropped me off at daycare for a sleepover. I even got a bath and a pretty bow.
When they picked me up I overheard them talking about their night. Apparently they went to visit Erin and Simon in La Canada. It was Janey's first night away from home and according to Papa Bear Janey did very well. The three of them got up there around 1 pm and had lunch, then went to Santa Anita. Papa Bear won some money and Mama Bear got more practice feeding Janey in public- which Mama Bear hates. Mama Bear is no good at getting the task accomplished. Every time Janey began to eat the announcer came on the loudspeaker and Janey would stop eating to listen. And if the announcer wasn't enough of a distraction, the print on the nursing cover also distracted Janey. Janey just kept looking at it and trying to grab it and put it in her mouth. This made Mama Bear so mad- not only did it mean Janey was not eating but she was also "uncovering" Mama Bear every time she grabbed the nursing cover:) Janey loved watching Katelyn(Simon and Erin's daughter). Katelyn was precious and very affectionate towards Janey.
Here is a pic of Janey and Katelyn:
Janey continues to have blow outs- here is a picture of one that went all the way down to her socks:
And here are a few other pictures taken since the last update.
Mama Bear found an ugly rash in one of Janey's neck folds and took her to the doctor. IT was nothing, but while there the doctor reminded Mama Bear of the importance on tummy time. SO Mama Bear has really been working hard to get Janey on her tummy more - Janey is supposed to be doing three 5 minute sessions a day. Around 12 weeks Janey was only able to tolerate a minute and a half, but after some hard work, she can now stay on her tummy for 5 - 8 minutes at a time!! Her is a picture of tummy time - check out that neck!!
THe doctors also sent Mama Bear home with some neck strecthing directions for Mama Bear to use on Janey. Janey continues to sleep on the right side of her head, which is creating a flat spot. So Mama Bear has to do these neck stretches 8 - 12 times a day with Janey. I tell you - byt he time Mama Bear feeds Janey, doee tummy time with Janey, stretches Janey's neck, and takes Janey and I for a walk there is not much time left in the day.
Mommy leaves for Virginia in less than four weeks and is very excited!!!!
